Purpose of the jobThe Grants Development Officer (GDO) will work as a team member in helping achieve the Etombi Foundation’s objective through grant concept and proposal development to secure funding for various projects within the organization.This role will be performed entirely remotely. We are open to any applicant who is excited to use this opportunities to build hard skills in project management and grant writing.
The goal of this role is to provide a practical learning opportunity for someone who wants to build a world class career around this aspect. The Etombi Foundation through its sustainable education mission believes that the best way to learn is through practical at the job placements. This is the first of such opportunities.
The primary function of the GDO will be to coordinate the process for producing high quality proposals and concept notes in accordance with the Etombi Foundation strategy. He/she will also identify and explore grant opportunities ranging from crowd-funding, local and international organisations to governmental funding opportunities. The GDO will be responsible for extensive partner, member and donor liaison during the proposal development process. This role works in close collaboration with other Etombi Foundation staff and volunteers.
Missions / Responsabilités / Activités
The GDO will be in charge of;
  • Identifying grant funding opportunities.
  • Researches information and data necessary for grants and grant reporting.
  • Writing, submitting, and managing grant proposals.
  • Prepare content for crowd-funding through our website, social media and popular crowd-funding platforms such as Kickstarter and Indiegogo.
  • Furnishing prospective funders with supporting documents.
  • Collaborating with other staff and volunteers to send funders newsletters, and to promote funding calls.
  • Participates in all other organization activities towards fostering our objective of providing sustainable solutions for the under-privileged.
  • Maintaining records in hard copies and computer databases.
Compétences / Exigences / Qualités
Key competencies
  • Must be an eager learner.
  • Proficient with MS Office Word and Excel and other programmes.
  • Excellent and versatile communication skills with strong attention to detail. Main language is English, being bilingual is a plus.
  • Strong people skills and excellent organizational skills.
  • Prior grant writing, monitoring and evaluation, quality assurance or project management experience is very advantageous.
Education:  Minimum of a bachelor's degree or HND.
