We are hiring for the needs of one of our client a Maintenance Workshop Mechanic.
Key Responsibilities:
• Repairs and overhauls all types of engines and automatic and manual transmissions.
• Reads job order and observes and listens to vehicle in operation to determine malfunction and to plan work procedures.
• Raises vehicle, with hydraulic jack or hoist, to gain access to mechanical units bolted to underside of vehicle/equipment.
• Removes unit such as engine, transmission or differential. Disassembles unit and inspects parts for wear. Repairs or replaces parts such as pistons, rods, gears, valves, and bearings.
• Installs new ignition systems, aligns front wheels, changes or recharges batteries, and replaces transmissions and other parts.
• Overhauls gas or diesel engines. Overhauls or replaces carburetors, blowers, generators, distributors, starters and pumps.
• Replaces and adjusts headlights, and installs and repairs accessories such as mirrors and wipers.
• Lubricates moving parts and drives repaired vehicle to verify conformance to specifications.
• Relines and adjusts brakes, aligns front end, repairs or replaces shock absorbers, and solders leaks in radiator.
• Conducts preventive maintenance service on all types of vehicles and equipment. Determine cause of failure of mechanical components of yard equipment & service machines.
• Provides training and instruction to the less experienced workers
• Provides complete and accurate reports as needed.
• Informs supervisor of any workmanship issues, requests checking of work when appropriate, and seeks approval of completed work.
➤ Requires at least four to six years of general work experience as a senior level mechanic in a maintenance and repair shop servicing similar vehicles such as tractors, buses, and so forth.
➤ Preference for experience in ports, transportation/logistics industry, heavy construction industry.
➤Requires specialized mechanical maintenance and repair knowledge for a wide range of mechanical equipment, industrial control systems and variable drive systems and mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems and their controls.
➤ Requires the specialized knowledge of various tools and equipment used in the repair and maintenance of vehicles.
➤ Requires mechanical aptitude in order to perform varying assignments.
➤ Requires ability to troubleshoot complex mechanical problems related to port vehicles and mechanical equipment, such as transmissions, engines, and hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
➤Requires ability to use various mechanical tools and to read and interpret mechanical drawings, service & parts manuals.
➤ Requires the ability to follow instructions & plan the work day. Required to keep work area organized, neat and efficiently planned.
➤ Requires the ability to be responsive to emergency breakdowns and repairs with quality workmanship and service.
➤ Requires the skills to judge mechanical damages.
➤ Must be able to exercise good judgment in order to set priorities.
