Type Of Contract:Permanent Contract
Location:Douala - Cameroon
Job Purpose : The Database Administrator‘s role is to design and install (where applicable), monitor, maintain, and performance tune databases while ensuring high levels of data availability. To Produce database support of a 24x7 environment and on-call support is required.
Missions / Responsabilités / Activités
- Design and implement an optimal database configuration to maximize system performance and availability ;
- Assist in the planning, the implementing capacity and resource expansion to ensure scalability of company databases ;
- Maintain support tools such as OEM as well as develop and maintain supporting documentation ;
- Maintain Oracle Database performance by planning and executing Oracle Database tuning strategies ;
- Work with teams and product owners to ensure that the design and the performance database match-up/meet with the business requirements ;
- Participates and supports SLA and operational performance monitoring and reporting ;
- Participate and support effective operational document management practices; controls improvements, incident reduction and performance enhancement ;
- Participate in projects and analyze user requirements based on findings and design functional specifications for databases following database standards;
- Identify inefficiencies in current databases and implement improved solutions ;
- Provide technical documentation, automation scripting , installation, monitoring, and trouble-shooting across the enterprise environment ;
- Conduct research and make recommendations on database products services , protocols, standards in support of procurement and development efforts;
- Implements effective Risk Management controls, owns adherence to all compliance related items (exceptions, waivers, risks, technical compliance, access control) ;
- Plan and participate in Disaster Recovery exercises, system failover planning and testing ;
- Required to participate in 24X7 on-call rotation and to be available to perform periodic after-hours support
Compétences / Exigences / Qualités
1. Required Academic
- A bachelor's degree in engineering or computer science strongly preferred, equivalent qualification or experience ;
- One or more of the following qualifications are highly desirable :
- Certification in Oracle Database Administration
- Microsoft SQL Server database certifications
- Any other recognized and relevant certification
2. Work Experience
- 03+ years of experience with Oracle Database Administration within UNIX environment, with experience in implementation, maintenance of Oracle databases across multiple platforms ;
- Hands-on experience with database standards and end user applications ;
- Experience in data security management ;
- Experience with programming languages such PL/SQL coding and shell scripting ;
- Experience in managing other databases (MySQL, MongoDB and MS SQL) would be a definite advantage ;
- Strong Oracle Performance and Tuning skills.

- Data modeling (both logical and physical) ;

- The ability to create and maintain strong working relationships with colleagues and IT clients ;
- Business awareness and understanding of business requirements of IT ;
3. Technical Competences
- Must have a thorough knowledge of Oracle Database Systems ;
- Good understanding of database design, implementation, troubleshooting and maintenance ;
- Excellent knowledge of data backup, recovery, security, integrity and SQL ;
- Familiarity with programming languages and APIs, coding and documentation ;
- In-Depth understanding of High Availability and Disaster Recovery requirements and solutions ;
- Knowledge of Database and application servers internals ; ü Advanced troubleshooting techniques in support of 24x7
On-call duties ;
üAn understanding of information legislation, such as the Data Protection Act
