The delegation of the International Committee of the Red Cross for Central Africa in Yaoundé is looking for one (01) qualified candidate to strengthen the team of the "Communication' department as indicatcd below
Position: Communication Officer 2 (H./F)
Location: Bamenda
Type of Contract: 12 months (offer reserved exclusivety to cameroontans)
Starting Date. As soon as possible

Missions / Responsabilités / Activités
  • Contrebutes to defining the objectives, strategies and action plans of the commun cation/prevention deparmert in line witn the priorities of the Delegat.on and the communication andior prevention strategy;
  • Develop an operational communications and community engagement strategy for the North-WeSt
  • Implements relevant activities and develops operational communicatior tools for: 
    • Community Engagement and Accountability( ICEA), 
    • Promotion of Internabonai Humanitanan Law (WU
    • Strengthen the communication capacities of the National Society. Public and digital communication, 
    • Information/environmental analyses;
    • Relationship with Civil Society
  • Supports the head of sub-delegation in networking with all enfluential actors and represents the ICRC to various relevant audiences
  • Monitors (and contrebutes to analysis of) political, social, security. and humanitarian developments as well as other issues likely to have an impact on the reputation/perception of the ICRC and ds ability to operate in the geographical area covered,
  • Contributes to the Implementation of the operational partnership with the Cameroomar Red Cross (Economic Security Water & Habitat, Protection Family Links if possible);
  • Plays the role of retay between the Cameroonian Red Cross and the ICRC (operational departments and  management);
  • lnterprets and translates local languages in support of communications programs as appropnate,
  • Provides technical and administrative support in communications (e.g., archiving inventory management, avent organizabon).
  • Takes charge of training and coaching related to communication for employoes of other departments in areas falling within their skias if applicable. 
Compétences / Exigences / Qualités
Required knowledge and experience. 
  • Master or equivalent in a relevant field such as communications. politicai science, intemabonal relations. law or joumalism
  • Minimum 3 years work experience in a field relevant to communication;
  • Fluent spoken and written Englash and pidgin English; good written and spoken French;
  • International Humanitarian Law / Human Rights Law knowledge an asset.
  • Sound knowledge of Me political, social and media environnent in the country/region covered
  • Good abdity to analyze/summarize and write clear and concise reports;
  • Ability to create and maintain a network with local partners,
  • Good knowledge of the social and cultural context of the North-West
  • Ability to take initiatives and fulfill responsibilities independentty;
  • Computer skills (proficiency n MS Office); familiarity with digital communication toois:
  • Ability to handie confidential information, sense of professional discretion;
  • Motivated, patient and pragmatic:
  • Organizational skills, good leadership skills, rigor and abitity te work as part of a team.
